Development Blog Week 4 - Total War Saga Troy
Hello and welcome to Week 4 of my development blog! This week I have started the pre-production phase of my level. I have started sculpting out the map as well as blocking out where I am going to place the wall and structures within my level.
Firstly, I decided to create a landscape for my level, I modelled a landscape and decided to add mountains as the base of the mountain pass. I also added walls on each side to represent the mountain that will be either side of the level, towering over the city.
Secondly I decided to block out the city walls as well as the gatehouse, this gave me a plan on where I am able to place structures outside of the city wall. I was also able to portray my artefact idea within this stage as creating the city wall helps to capture the idea.
With the structure of the city walls in place I was then able to block out where I am able to put the trees, houses and big rocks within the level.
After this I mapped out an abandoned structure outside of the city, this is supposed to represent a war torn building that has been destroyed by attackers. Once created this building will have the effect that it has been submerged by sand.
I then decided to start blocking out buildings within the city walls. I will continue to map this out next week.
Next week I will continue to map out the inner city and add elements that are related to Total War. I will be adding an area in which troops are able to stand to capture the city. This element has been in a lot of recent Total War games so I will take this into consideration and design around it.
