Pre-Production | Development Blog Week 6 - Total War Saga: Troy

Development Blog Week 6 - Total War Saga Troy

Welcome back to development blog week 6! This is the last week of the pre-production phase designing my level. I have continued to block out as well as texture each block out with different colours representing the category they fit in. (eg. rocks, houses, trees, water). However, I decided it would be best to keep the landscape a white material as this will not conflict with any other colours I have decided to use for other block out categories.

Firstly this week I decided to texture the walls of the ruined building outside of the city walls, I decided to make yellow the category colour for the walls as I am going to be designing my level within a desert theme and a large majority of the walls are going to be ancient style desert walls.

I then added textures to the city walls as well as the gatehouse. I've also textured this under the wall category and will help to guide me through the production stage.

After this I then created another material, however this time coloured it green. This represents any trees that will be placed within the level and will help to guide the placement of them going forward.

I then created another material representing all the housing buildings that are placed within my level. I then decided to texture a large amount of block outs inside of the city with my already existing materials. I added textures to walls, trees and stairs within the city.

Afterwards I created another grey material for the boulders/rocks that will be within my level. I also realised that after this I had mistakenly textured the cliff under the wall category. As a result of this I then textured it correctly so that I would not make mistakes within the final production.

Lastly, I created a blue material representing any water that is present within my level. I then textured the lake that is present outside of the city walls.

Thank you reading this weeks blog post, this is the last week of the pre-production therefore next week I will be starting full production of my level. I will be replacing my block outs with models, as well as making sure the level looks well designed when it goes into the next phase.
