  Development Blog Week 9 - Total War Saga Troy

Hello! Welcome back to my development blog. I have worked upon the abandoned ruin and a small portion of within the city walls. 

I have used the mood board I created previously to create an abandoned and ruined building outside of the city walls. As previously mentioned it has been created to give the impression that the level has been raided before and the Trojans within the city have not rebuilt it.


I then textured the ancient ruin as well as detailed around it with trees, rocks, grass and gravel. This helps to fully capture the vision of the ruin I was trying to create. The sand is slowly engulfing it over the years the ruin has been there and will continue to until there is nothing left.

I have also decided to remodel the inside of the walls of the city, as before they had multiple issues with the walls having major clipping issues from the inside. This way I am able to mask any issues that were present before. This allows the inside of the walls to look more appealing.

After I had remodelled the inside of the city walls:

After the inside city walls were amended I decided it was time to work on creating the inside of the city. I created a raised area in which players would be able to create a chokepoint within the city, however in future I am going to be expanding this area so that the player will have to defend from two ways. After hiding any block outs this is what I have created within the city walls this week. I painted gravel on the landscape also to add a more realistic feel within the level, as this acts as a path city dwellers, soldiers etc can walk on.


This week I have also started to create my video, however I am having issues keeping it below two minutes. Therefore to get around this I will have to use more camera cuts as well as different techniques to portray my artefact in the best way. I will be continuing work on the video sequencer within Unreal Engine as well as coming up with ideas to condense my video.



Next week I am going to be creating more buildings within the city walls, as well as a portion of the market. I will also be adding more details inside the city walls. I will be creating chokepoints so that players can create strategies when defending or attacking the city within my level.
